Showcasing indiGO's Smartwheel Technology Through a New Interior
indiGO Technologies had been and continues to develop their SmartWheel technology for years, which uses active suspension to deliver a smooth and stable driving experience. When I arrived in mid-2022, they were ready to integrate them into a running prototype to showcase their core technology in a way that might attract greater capital investment.
With the package already set, I set out to deliver a unique, eye-catching interior that would showcase 3 main vehicle architecture improvements that indiGO hoped to deliver with their SmartWheel technology: lighter vehicle design, increased cabin space, and a smoother ride. Taking this to heart, the design I built tried to manage two diametrically opposed themes: giving a sense of comfort and roominess while simultaneously feeling lightweight and devoid of extraneous elements that might add weight.
During my time with indiGO, I ideated on, sketched, and CAD-modeled the complete interior, including producing high-level VRED renderings. I traveled to CES 2023 (Consumer Electronics Show) together with CEO Will Graylin, as the design team’s representative, to showcase the yet-to-be-pubilc (at the time) design and allow potential investors to experience the space in virtual reality.
After my time with the company, the updated interior and exterior design eventually attracted a $54 million investment from Foxconn, Fedex, and others. Using this investment, the interior was built and integrated into a running prototype which debuted in 2025 at the ACT Expo.
