AL FRESCO CONCEPT CATAMARAN
The Ultimate Home At Sea
Seeking to showcase the Icona Group design team’s capability outside of automotive design, Icona sought to explore design opportunity in boat design. Two 15-meter catamarans, named Fibonacci and Al Fresco, were designed, built in 3D, and visualized. I was part of the tandem of key designers bringing Al Fresco to life, building out the design philosophy, interior and exterior surfacing, and exploring colors and materials.
Exterior/Interior Boundary Redefined
Taking inspiration from modern villas, Al Fresco’s design is sophisticated and architectural. Ample use of glass paneling allows for panoramic views of the sea, while the interior flooring extends seamlessly outside, blurring the boundary between the two.
The views from the master bedroom in the front are enhanced by low-lying, minimalist furniture, bringing airiness to the space.
