EDISONFUTURE EF1-T/EF1-V CONCEPT INTERIORS

A New EV Truck Joins The Fray

SPI Energy, a company specializing in solar technologies, wanted to preview their entrance into the automotive market under their subbrand, EdisonFuture. With competition heating up in the electric pickup and work vehicle segments, they needed two concepts that would establish themselves in the market with a strong design identity.

Leading the design development of the interior, I collaborated with a team of digital sculptors in China and prototype manufacturing suppliers in Italy to translate the original design vision into 2 show cars. The EF1-T was to be the pickup, and the EF1-V a cargo van.

Minimal, Practical, High-Tech

The interior design is minimal, with a horizontal beam clamped by air vents on each side, and a 17″ central display in the center. A large solar panel was placed in front of the dashboard to save energy and also reaffirm EdisonFuture’s identity as intertwined with solar power. Bench seating leaves room for 3 occupants up front, with the middle seat folding down and also functioning as a center console if not in use. The resulitng interior is no-nonsense, practical, and spacious.
